Hosted by Dr. Stacy Loeb, of New York University and the Manhattan Veterans Affairs Medical Center, the Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO) will convene a continuing medical education session at the 2023 American Urological Association Annual Meeting on Saturday, April 29 from 12:30 to 5 pm.

The session will begin with a Welcome and Introduction, followed by a presentation of the SUO Awards. Then, Dr. Michael Koch, of IU Health Physicians Urology, will give the Whitmore Lecture, and Dr. Mary Beth Westerman, of LSU Health New Orleans, will lead the sessions on updates in kidney cancer.

Dr. Brian Rini, of Vanderbilt University Medical Center, will highlight relevant topics in the management of metastatic non-clear cell renal cell carcinoma. A short presentation on the role of cytoreductive partial nephrectomy, surgical complications after robotic partial nephrectomy, and “Three Papers in the Past Year That Influenced My Practice” will follow.

After a brief Q&A on the kidney cancer presentations, the session will turn to a focus on urothelial carcinoma. Dr. Maria Ribal Caparros, of the Hospital Clinic at the University of Barcelona, will lead attendees through presentations on neoadjuvant immunotherapy for muscle-invasive bladder cancer, tumor markers in bladder cancer, and optimizing care of bladder cancer in women.

A short break will precede the prostate cancer portion of the day. Dr. Caroline Moore, of the University College London Hospitals, will provide guidance through sessions on promoting racial equity in prostate cancer, renaming Gleason 6 prostate cancer, and updates in clinical trials.

Brief sessions related to guidelines for sexual health care and prostate cancer, caring for members of the LGBTQIA+ population with prostate cancer, and genetic counseling will round out the afternoon.
